Operational Analyst (Defense industry)

We are looking for an Operational Analyst to join our client’s team carrying out a project for one of the Defense industry (NATO).

The main role of this position is to undertake a range of analytical and data-related tasks, under the direction and supervision of Operational Analysis (OA) staff. 

Full-time – relocation to NL (Hague) is required.

The candidate must come from one of the NATO countries and must have a current NATO Secret Security Clearance.

Position responsibilities:

  • Supporting OA Centre staff in the development and update of documentation/reports.
  • Being able to undertake in a methodical way data collection using a range of sources and presenting data back in a concise, clear, and logical manner.
  • Producing, under time pressure, accurate (i.e. verified, validated, and consistent) data sets using MS Office tools at an expert level.
  • Carrying out data collection, collation, and analysis using a range of tools (predominantly implemented in MS Excel).
  • Summarising results to be presented in MS PowerPoint presentations and MS Word documents.
  • The work may involve the use of various OA techniques including data science techniques, visualization of data using dashboards, and statistical software.

Essential Skills/Experience:

  • Expert knowledge of MS Office suite, in particular MS Excel.
  • Experience in utilizing NATO Foresight Analysis products to support a range of analytical activities including wargames.
  • Good working knowledge of the relationships between Qualitative Requirements, Qualitative Targets and Capability Codes & Capability Statements (CC&CS) in the context of the NATO Defence Planning Process (NDPP).
  • Working knowledge of the industrial capacity study currently ongoing to assess the availability of munitions.
  • Understanding of the relationship between the latest Standardisation Agreements (STANAGs) and CC&CS, Capability Targets and Qualitative Requirements.
  • Some experience with data from NATO-sponsored surveys in the context of Alliance missions and a working knowledge of how those surveys are linked to existing operational plans.
  • Ability to undertake detailed review and analysis of large data sets using commercial and in-house tools (e.g. MS Excel and other data analysis tools).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment providing fit for purpose, and rapid analysis under the direction of OA Centre staff.

Requirements: 

  • Nato Secret security clearance required.
  • Degree or certificate in computer science, mathematics/related field, or international relations.
  • Very good spoken and written English.
  • Min. 2-3 years on-site with experience in the military industry.
  • Proven experience supporting analysts in a military environment.
  • Previous experience working with operational analysts at NATO.
